Don
Sorry if I took your name in vain.
If I was off the mark hit " reply all" and set me straight. (be gentle)
Ron

Glenn
You know your description of visualizing the projection of sound is so
close to Don Johnsons description it's amazing.
His office door opened onto a very long hallway (Iwas never there) and
he would have students open the door and aim their sound to hit the end
of the hall.
I like your idea even better. You're projecting to an almost infinite
distance. I'll keep listening here in Bruce County if you ever play from
Bay City. Maybe if I hear you I'll send a few tunes your way through the
beautiful sunsets that are projected from your country.

Or at the inhale as you suggest. The visual of where you put your sound has also helped me and helped me get students to move air. Pick some spots way out there in front of you to play to. That is why it has been so useful for me to stop every time I go up to the UP of Michigan or back down from the UP there is a spot overlooking a cliff, Lake Michigan, the Mackinac Bridge, a few islands, miles of shorline dotted with pine trees. I always stop and play Pines of Rome offstage solo to the pines along the shore or out on the island or to the horizon.l I'm playing "to" somewhere or "to" someone. I try to make it personal and connect it to something deeper and less conscious within myself and connect it with something much further away from myself. I'll stop in the middle of winter, at ni
>ght, in a snowstorm, any time whatsoever and pull my trumpet out and make the connection to the earth or to some imagined place or some imagined people alive or long passed.
