[TPIN] What is your Dream Trumpet?

Ah,too many horns, not enough good notes, so I'd gladly trade a horn or two
(or MY choice) for a few more good notes... ;-)
I guess I too own my dream horn: Thein MF Eb/D/C trumpet. 4 valves,
changeable leadpipe, all 4 valve slides and bell. In Eb it's a dream, big
rich sound and so much more in tune than my old Schilke E3L. In D, it feels
like a big old C horn. In C, well, let's just say that every single person
who has blown on it gets a couple of notes in and then has a great big smile
on their face, usually accompanied by comments along the lines of, 'You
[deleted], how did you ever find this beast?' It's just a pleasure to play.
And Scherzer, who can ignore their piccolos? I'd love a G picc, but have
little use for it.
Graham - you mention a 3 stripe A leadpipe? Any more info, as the only
Scherzers I have seen all have 3 Bb pipes (1-3 stripes) and a single A pipe,
with no stripes...
cheers
Andy

By Any piece I meant in the Baroque repertoire. Should have been more
specific. So for the Brandenburg it is the #43 backbore with the one stripe
Bb leadpipe. For TTSS #44 and the 3 stripe A(richer sound) etc the
combinations affect the sonal quality and response slightly. So you can
shade it from a piccolo sound to more of a D trumpet . Probably is more
apparent to the player than the listener.
On the ravel they wanted more edge. the Yamaha student model has a smaller
and tighter bell. The Goldberg and Schuyle is not one where a sweet vocal
or a noble Bach and Handel sound is desired.
It was harder to play on the Yammie.
I would actually consider buying a Yamaha for those modern type of things
except that I have easy access to two I can borrow so I have no need to put
out the money. I do not like mixing rotary and piston piccolo so I never do
that. I have a rotary D that matches the Scherzer to lend 2nd players for
Handel etc
A matter of taste I suppose
