I agree that you should seek a teacher. In the meantime, two hours a day is
a lot of practice time if it is two hours of playing. Try to rest as much
as you play. Take a break every phrase, if necessary or desired. Count the
entire time as practice time!
The Arban slurring studies are very taxing. Clarke exercises are very
tiring; think of them as moving long tones and you will realize why you are
exhausted.
Take lots of breaks in your practicing.
Add some soft staccato exercises like Arban, page 28 and forward.
Get a good teacher.

Find a teacher or get a duet buddy. Something is wrong, and I don't think
age has anything to do with your problem. Do you use a lot of pressure? Are
you slumping and angling the horn differently when you are tired? Are you
playing Clarke quietly? These are questions that I would ask if I were you
teacher. You can play the trumpet for as long as you are alive and kicking
:-)
Wilmer....... I've got you by a few years.

I'm a seven month comeback player of almost 66 using a C horn. I've improved
very slowly, but I've encountered problems in the last week or so. Since
then, my endurance has dropped, my attacks are poor and I've almost lost A
above the staff. I expect that I've stressed my chops somehow.
I strive to practice an hour or two daily in 20 - 30 minute chunks. I work
Arban's slurring studies (pp 39 - 41), Clarke Technical Studies (at
reduced speed), Hering Etudes and recently, Clarke Technical Study #1 with A
as my high note (#22).
Should I quit for a few days?
I would think that working to mild fatigue is necessary for improvement in
range and endurance. How do I know when I'm causing harm?
